Agenda-April 11 -Planning Commission Regular Meeting REGIONAL NOTICES & AGENDAS Agenda 1. Agenda-April 9-Belvedere City Council ++ AV G March 15, 2018 MAR 2 1 2018 Mr.Greg Chanis .,owNmANPGERSOFFICE TOWN OF TIBURON Tiburon Town Manager 1505 Tiburon Blvd. Tiburon, CA 94920 Hello Greg and welcome to Tiburon. I am sure that you will enjoy working in such a nice environment. We have lived in Tiburon for 40 years and really appreciate the many nice features that comes With being residents of Tiburon. We live on Sonora Court, which is off of Stewart Drive in Reed Heights. Reed Heights combined with Tiburon Knolls has a total of 165 homes. I would like to give my opinion on the intersection at the bottom of Stewart Drive and Tiburon Blvd., Without a doubt it is very problematic for residents trying to cross Tiburon Blvd.from one side to the other side and also extremely dangerous for automobiles trying to turn left from Stewart Drive going east towards town. I have been crossing the intersection to get down to the bike path at least twice a week for many years. Prior to the blinking light and with the installation of the blinking light, it has been and is a major challenge. I consider myself a very experienced individual with all of the crossings, but even with my experience, I have had many close calls with almost getting hit by automobiles. Greg, in my opinion it is just a matter of time before there will be a very serious automobile accident causing severe injuries,or worse to an individual trying to cross from one side to the other side of Tiburon Blvd. In the years past I was very active in our Home Owners Association, having held every job on the Board including being the President. This intersection was always a topic of the HOA meetings. I realize that Cal Trans is responsible for Tiburon Blvd. I understand that over the years the Town has had discussions with Cal Trans and there have been surveys regarding the traffic flow at the intersection hoping to find a safe solution. There is only one sure answer for making this intersection safe for residents to cross from one side to the other and also allowing automobiles trying to turn left less dangerous and the answer is to install a stop light similar to the Trestle Glen intersection. I remember being informed that one of the last surveys regarding traffic actually showed that if a stop light was installed at the bottom of Stewart Drive, it could be timed with the existing stop lights on Tiburon Blvd. so that there would not be any disturbance to the current traffic travelling on Tiburon Blvd. I understand that the expense of installing a stop light is one of the concerns, but we have to find a way to deal with the expense. Safety for all residents should be our main concern. Thank you.
