HomeMy WebLinkAboutTC Res 1974-04-22 RESOLUTION NO. 625 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TIBURON URGING BOTH THE MARIN COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION AND THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS NOT TO SPLIT UP THE STRAWBERRY AREA PLAN OR BIFURCATE ANY PORTION OF THE RING MOUNTAIN PLANNING AREA AND CONSIDER THE STRAWBERRY PLAN AS AN INTEGRATED WHOLE WHEREAS: the County of Marin previously adopted the Countywide Plan, which Plan has also been approved by the City of Corte Madera; and WHEREAS, the Strawberry Area Planning Council spent some two years in developing an Area Plan for the unincorporated portions of the Tiburon Peninsula, lying in and about Strawberry, which Area Plan is consonant with the density and uses called for under the Countywide Plan; and WHEREAS, pursuant to authorization of the Marin County Board of Super- visors, a special citizens' group known as the Ring Mountain Advisory Committee was appointed, and it developed an Area Plan for the entire Ring Mountain area (including that portion of the Strawberry Area Plan covering the unincorporated portion of Ring Mountain); and WHEREAS, the Ring Mountain Advisory Committee Plan is in substantial agree- ment with the Strawberry Area Plan, and both in turn comport to the Countywide Plan; and WHEREAS, the Tiburon City Council previously endorsed the Ring Mountain Advisory Committee Plan; and the City of Tiburon has an adopted Open Space Element and Plan with a density recommendation on those parts of Ring Mountain falling within the City limits with RPD (Residential Planned Development) classi- fication providing for not less than .2 nor more than 1 dwelling unit per gross acre (i.e. 1 unit per 1 acre to 1 unit per 5 acres); and WHEREAS, Corte Madera's Town Council has endorsed the concepts of the Ring Mountain Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, the Ring Mountain Area lying southeasterly of the crest of the Ridge lies in Tiburon's sphere of influence; and the part to the north is in Corte Madera's sphere of influence; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has now asked the County Planning Com- mission to review the Strawberry Area Plan and the Ring Mountain Plan with a view toward "splitting off" the Ring Mountain Area; IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City of Tiburon urge both the Marin County Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors not to split up the Strawberry Area Plan or bifurcate any portion of the Ring Mountain Planning Area, but to retain and consider the Strawberry Plan as an integrated whole; and IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Tiburon urge that said Plans be acted upon favorably by the Board of Supervisors.
