RESOLUTION NO.~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TIBURON COMMENDING CARLISLE BECKER FOR HIS
SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY AS A COUNCILMAN AND
DECLARING HIM TO BE AN HONORARY CITIZEN OF THE
CITY OF TIBURON
WHEREAS, in 1970 Carlisle Becker responded to the appeal of his
fellow citizens and successfully sought the office of City Councilman and,
WHEREAS, notwithstanding what was often considerable personal
inconvenience, he served as City Councilman for four years . . . as Vice-
Mayor in 1971-72 . . . and during his term brought to his peers a delight-
ful sense of humor which often relieved the tension of late-hour debate,
and
WHEREAS, his tenure was marked by his continued insistence upon
openness in government, accessibility to that government by the individual
citizen, and by concern for the problems of the individual citizen, and
WHEREAS, his tenure was further marked by an understanding of
the planning process, the need for maximum citizen participation in that
process and by his personal encouragement of many persons to enter local
civic and political life by his own effective representation of Tiburon's
interests on various regional bodies and throughout, at all times, by a
high degree of personal integrity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City
of Tiburon does hereby commend Carlisle Becker for his years of service to
the community, does wish him Godspeed and much success as he begins a new
undertaking in the State of Utah and does hereby declare Carlisle Becker
from this date forward to be an honorary citizen of the City of Tiburon.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of
Tiburon expresses the hope that the day will come when Carlisle Becker
and his family will be able to return to this community which is so much
in his debt.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Tiburon on August 11, 1975, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Ellman, Ross, Tayer
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilmen: Aramburu, Littman
