RESOLUTION NO. 3465
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON
IN MEMORIAM OF
MARGARET AZEVEDO
WHEREAS, Margaret Azevedo has long been a part of the Tiburon Community having moved to
Tiburon in 1951 with her late husband Alfred; and
WHEREAS, she was well known as an active environmentalist, staunch advocate of preserving
open space, and arguably the most important person in Marin County during the '60s and '70s in
preserving the character of the Tiburon Peninsula and Marin county, and
WHEREAS, Margaret Azevedo was a key leader and supporter of the Town's incorporation in
1964; and
WHEREAS, she contributed so much of her time and expertise to the Tiburon Peninsula, laboring
tirelessly for issues of self-governance, open space preservation, and sound planning; and
WHEREAS, she acquired her vast knowledge by involving herself passionately in Marin County
Planning, the California Coastal Conservancy, League of Women Voters Campaign Watch Committee,
the Richardson Bay Foundation, the Bay Area Transportation Study Commission, the Golden Gate Bridge
District, the Association of Bay Area Governments Housing Task Force, the North Central Coast
Regional Commission, the Point Reyes National Seashore Foundation, and the Marin County Democratic
Central Committee; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Azevedo lived an active and vibrant life and is known for her love of the
out-of-doors, wonderful sense of humor, zest for life, and as a woman who was unafraid to speak her
mind, and
WHEREAS, Margaret Azevedo passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2000, and is deeply
mourned throughout the Tiburon Community and Marin County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town ofTiburon does
hereby join Margaret Azavedo's many friends in expressing its sincere condolences to her children Joseph
and Janet Azevedo, sister Janet Hanford, and nieces and nephews, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Town Council did hereby adjourn its December 6, 2000
regular meeting in the memory and honor of Margaret Azevedo.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town ofTiburon on
December 20, 2000, by the following vote:
