Please note however, that the Town Council is not able to undertake extended discussion or action on
items not on the agenda. Matters requiring action will be referred to the appropriate Commission,Board,
Committee or staff for consideration or placed on a future Town Council meeting agenda. Please limit
your comments to three (3)minutes.

SUMMARY
Council is considering adoption'of a Resolution(Exhibit 1)celebrating diversityin Tiburon.
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S)
1. Consider adopting Resolution(Exhibit 1).
BACKGROUND
At the November 7, 2018 regular Town Council meeting, Councilmember Thier spoke about the
anti-Semitic graffiti that was discovered near Bel Aire School in T iburon.
At the meeting, she indicated she would like the Council to consider a Resolution condemning
acts of racism and discrimination in Tiburon, and in support of diversity and inclusion in the
community. Councilmember Thier has provided a draft Resolution, which is attached as Exhibit
1.
ANALYSIS
No further analysis provided.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Staff anticipates no direct fiscal impact to the Town by adoption of this Resolution.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
Staff has preliminarily determined that adoption of this ordinance is statutorily exempt from the
requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15378 of
the CEQA Guidelines in that it does not constitute a project under CEQA.

Staff recommends that the Town Council consider adoption of the attached Resolution.

A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON
CELEBRATING DIVERSITY IN THE TIBURON COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, Tiburon residents' and leaders value members of our community of all
religions, ancestries, ethnicities, socioeconomic status, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or
gender identity; and
WHEREAS, the Town wishes to condemn acts of recent anti-Semitic graffiti at Bel Aire
School and elsewhere in Tiburon; and
WHEREAS, the Town wants to reassure its residents and visitors that Tiburon is a place
that celebrates diversity and inclusion and will not tolerate discrimination or hate expressed
towards any group; and
NOW, THEREFORE, the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon takes this opportunity
to reinforce our commitment to a diverse, supportive, inclusive, and protective community and
resolves as follows:
Section 1. The Town does not tolerate and will speak out against any bias-based
discrimination, harassment, or any hate crimes, hate incidents, prejudice and bigotry in all
forms.
Section 2. The Town of Tiburon recognizes, values and will proactively work to promote
diversity and inclusion within our community.
Section 3. The Town will oppose any attempts to undermine the safety, security, and
rights of any member of our community.
Section 4. The Tiburon Town Council will lead by example in promoting safety, security,
and respect for human and constitutional rights, and welcomes opportunities topartner
with the State Legislature, other jurisdictions, local organizations, educational
institutions, residents, and businesses that support and defend all individuals in Tiburon.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a special meeting of the Tiburon Town Council on
November 29, 2018.
