A RESOLUTION OF THE TIBURON TOWN COUNCIL
ENDORSING THE MARIN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISOR'S
ACTION TO DECLARE OCTOBER 2000
"DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH"
WHEREAS, domestic violence is one of the highest priority crimes for law enforcement,
due to the nature and severity of the crime. This requires the resources ofa significant number
of government agencies and community organizations to respond to these serious incidents; and
WHEREAS, more reporting has taken place over the years as this crime has become the
focus of public awareness; and
WHEREAS, the number of efforts over the years to eradicate the problem of domestic
violence in Marin County has resulted in the recent joint effort among the Marin County Law
Enforcement agencies and the Marin Abused Women's Services; and
WHEREAS, this joint effort, formally named the Community Policing Action Team, is
committed to implementing the uniform protocol of response to domestic violence among the
agencies and organizations involved; and

WHEREAS, the Community Policing Action Team will work to train law enforcement
first responders countywide towards consistency in police response to domestic violence,
incorporating the Community Oriented Policing (COP) approach, and promoting officers' use of
the available local community resources; and
WHEREAS, this unified collaboration is critical in the intervention and prevention of
domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, the Marin County Board of Supervisors is unremittingly resolved to end
domestic violence in the county, directing policy towards this end, and has declared October
2000 as "Domestic Violence Awareness Month;"
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Tiburon Town Council hereby
endorses the action of the Marin County Board of Supervisors, and calls upon all Town law
enforcement personnel and citizens to do what they can to help change the attitudes, beliefs, and
behaviors that condone and perpetuate domestic violence;
