RESOLUTION NO. 23-2002
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON ADOPTING THE
DOWNTOWN TIBURON DESIGN HANDBOOK
AND AUTHORIZING ITS USE BY TOWN STAFF AND OFFICIALS
IN THE REVIEW OF LAND DEVELOPMENT APPLICATIONS
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon does resolve as follows:
Section L Findings.
A, In 1998, the Town of Tiburon authorized the preparation of the Downtown Historic
Resources Study and in 1999 accepted the study and its recommendations. Those
recommendations included preparation and adoption of Downtown Design Guidelines in
lieu of the formation of a formal historic district,
B. The Town has caused to be prepared by qualified consultants a Downtown Tiburon
Design Handbook (hereinafter "HandboolC') that sets forth various design guidelines.

Public hearings on the draft Handbook were held by the Heritage & Arts Commission,
Planning Commission, Design Review Board, and Town Council to solicit public input.

D. The Town Council finds that the design guidelines adopted herein will promote the
general welfare by serving as a guide and handy reference to property and business
owners, investors, architects and designers, contractors, Town staff and officials, and
other interested parties who make decisions and improvements affecting Downtown
Tiburon. This includes both private and public improvements in Downtown Tiburon,
E, The Town Council fmds that the adoption of the Handbook is consistent with goals,
policies and programs of the Tiburon General Plan, as documented in the Staff Reports
for the October 3, 2001 and March 20, 2002 Town Council meetings.
F. The Town Council finds that adoption of design guidelines is not a project under the
California Environmental Quality Act.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council does hereby adopt the
Downtown Tiburon Design Handbook, dated May 2002, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council hereby authorizes the Town Staff
and Town Officials to use the Handbook in the review of development applications and as a
general guide for public and private improvements in Downtown Tiburon.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Tiburon on May 1,2002, by the following vote:
