A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNC'IL OF �TI�E "7�OWN OF 'TII3URON
COMMENDING OFFICER MICIIAEL D. SLOBODNIK UPON HIS RFTIREMENZ�� FROM
I�HE TIBURON POI.,ICE DEPAR"TM1:NT
WHEREAS; Miehael D. Slobod�lik began l�is ser�.ice as an Ofticer of 7�1�e Tibui-on Police
Department on October 19, 1998 and has worked continuously since that date i�l the service of the
Town of Tiburon; and �
WHEREAS, Offcer Slobodnik becalne more widel�� ]cno���n as ``Motor Mike" during his
lo»b period of service on tl�e police nlotorcycle, which ended only at the insistence of l�is wife
following Mike's encounter with a local deer—at about 3�mph. wllilc e»-route to woi-k one dark
morning; and
WH�REAS, "Motor Mike", through sheer force of personality and heartfelt devotion to
duty, developed an extraordinaiy bond with the communitv as evidenced by inmunerable calls
and letters of tha�lks aild appreciation, especially for his interest in school safety; and
WHEREAS, "Motor Mike" will long be renlembered by his co-worl<ers as a dependable,
h�rdworking, and occasionally irascible, but only supei-ficially so. fi-iend and colleague who w�s
al���ays, always willing to lend a hand oi•do anything to lessen someo�le else's burden; a�1d
NOW, THEREFORE, the Town Cotmcil of t�he Tow�1 of Tiburon does hereby thank and
coininend Oflicer Micliael D. Slobodnik foi•his tnoi-e than 21 ti�ears oi�distillguished sei-vice to
the Town of Tiburon, and wishes him all the best foi-fi�ture.
