HomeMy WebLinkAboutTC Res 2002-04-03 (2) _r' Resolution No. 17-2002 A Resolution of the Tiburon Town Council Proclaiming April 2002 as "WASTE-FREE MONTH" WHEREAS, April 22, 2002 will be the 32nJ celebration of Earth Day in the United States; and WHEREAS, State Law AB 939 requires every community to reduce its waste stream every year; and WHEREAS, the easiest way for individuals to reduce trash is to live simply and sustainably, and to practice the "4 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot (compost); and r'"' WHEREAS, in recognition of these facts and in an effort to encourage the residents of the Town of Tiburon to become part of a global solution to reduce waste on Earth Day and every day, the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon does hereby proclaim April 2002 as "Waste-Free Month" in the Town of Tiburon, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Tiburon residents are encouraged to take steps to reduce the amount of waste they generate in two simple ways; those who pack lunches are encouraged to avoid the use of throw-away bags, single-use cartons or cans, plastic wrap, foil, Styrofoam, plastic utensils, and paper napkins in their lunches; and residents are also asked to take steps to reduce the amount of unwanted mail they receive.
