A R�SOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF TIIr TOWN OF TIBURON
� CSTAI3LISHING A llIVI:RSITY INCLUSION TASI{ FORCL COMPI2IS�I) OF
MI?MB�RS OF THI, TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON AND
APPOINT�D M�MB�RS OF TNE PUBLIC
WHCREAS, in recent times, acts of racism and resultin<� death and violence continue to plague
oizr country and local co�nnnlnities despite inany pleas for chan��e:
WH�RLAS, in order to sei-ve oul- community at l�i-��e bv creating a safe. inclusive, and equitable
community, tl��e "Town Cotulcil of the 'I�'own of Tiburon ��ishes to for�i��lly i-ecognize the vital
role that diversity plays ii1 our lives and eominunities and to condemn racism, bigotry, bias, hate
speech and prejudice of any form;
WHI�RLAS, to that ei�d, the Town Council for the "I�own of Tiburon seeks to establish a
Diversit�� Inclusioi� Task Torce which Taslc Force sh�ll fui�ther the values and ideals described
above.
NOW, 7'HEREFOI2�, B� IT RESOLV�D, by t}ie To«11 Council oi�t11e Tov���l of Tiburon as
(ollows:
Section 1. Diversity Inclusion Task I�orce Established.
n Diversity Inclusion Task Force of the Town of Tiburon is hereb}� establishecl for the purpose
of�idvising the Town Council on developinb recommendations to furtller the values of
inclusivit}% and equuality and woi-king to identify and address r�icism, bias a�id pr�judice within the
7��own.
Section `'. Sta�Iding Con�mittee
�17�e �l�asl: 1�'orce shall be a standing committe�; of the 'l�o��n Council of the "Town of Tiburon and
shall bc subject to tl�e Brown Act (See Gov. Code � 5�9�2(b).j
Sectio» �. Co�nposition of Tasl< Fol�ce.
T�l�e "I�asl: Force sl�all be comprised ofthe follo�vin�� mcmbers �a�ith the followin�� c�ualitications
and initial cluties:
- All five (5) members of tl�e Town Council of the Z�o�vn of�Tiburon.
- } i��e (5) at-large members of the public �vho are:
o Full-time reside�lts of the Town of 7�iburon or Citv oj��3elved�re.
o Interested in working to create and implem�nt �To��n �olicies regarding diversity
and inclusion and condemi�ing i�acism_ bias and pl�ejudice.
o Ideally posses son�e awareness of ho���the I�ole of svstemic 1�acism prodLices t17e
ctn-rent inequities the taslc force ��ill ti-}� to addl�ess.

o Ideally possess the eapei-ie��ce, qualifications aild k11o��leclge �itlier in their
professional careers, voluntccr worl<, or personal capacities to en�a<�c, or�anizc
and provide i-ecommendations to achieve diversity inclusio» goals and policies of
the Town.
Sectio�l 4. �poi�liment of Taslc I'orce Membei�s.
!1s soon �s practiclble after adoption of this Resolution. The Town Cow�cil shall appoint one
member of the Town Council to serve as the Cl�aii-of the Tasl� Force. "I�he "I�own Cow�cil sliall
further direct tl�e Town Manager to create an application foi-m and timelines for accepting
applications for tl�e five (5) at -large membei•positio�Is ol�thc Taslc Force. The To�a�n Mana�er
shall sllbmit to the Town Council at a Town Gouncil meetin�_ all applications for the �five (5) at-
large positions. �
At the meeting at which Che Town ManaQer slibmits applications to t11e "I,own Cou»cil, tl�e 7�own
Council sl�all delibei•ate and vote on applicants until each at-large position has becn filled.
Seciio�i �. Goals and Respoilsibilities of Tasl<}�orce.
Tl1e charge of the committee is to:
- Provide advice to the Town Cotmcil. Town Manager, ancl Police Cl�ief regardin� issues
of diversiry and inclusion involving the Police force
- Provide advic� to the Town Counc�l i-e�ardin� ways to improve diversity and inclusion
genei-ally in the Town of Tibtn•on �
Sectio» 6. Meetiil�s.
Once ronvened, meinbers of the Taslc Force shall vote on a meeting schedule. Meetings should
be held u�onthly, and as i•equired by the needs of the T�sl< Force. and in accorda��ce with the
Bt�own Act.
Seetion 7. Term of Task Force.
The term of the Task Force shall expire whei� the 1��o���n Council repeals this Resolution.

held on this 7`�' day of October, 2020, by the follo��ing vote:
