RESOLUTION NO. 42-2021
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON COMMENDING WOODLANDS MARKET UPON ITS SELECTION AS THE 2021 TIBURON PENINSULA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Woodlands Market has operated successfully and continuously as a local, family-owned, independent grocery store since 1986 with Don Santa at the helm; and
WHEREAS, Woodlands has been an industry innovator by focusing on natural and sustainable products, supporting local suppliers, and maintaining a steadfast commitment to its surrounding communities, and
as a result, Woodlands has contributed over $2.5 million in cash and in-kind donations to help engage, support, and improve the communities where its customers and employees work and live; and
WHEREAS, Woodlands opened a second location in Tiburon 10 years ago, and since then, has become a
major contributor to a wide range of local entities in monetary donations and physical presence; and
WHEREAS, Woodlands has prioritized giving back to Tiburon community in many ways, including sponsorships for the Foundation for Reed Schools, Friday Nights on Main, the Tiburon Golf Tournament,
Little League teams, youth sailing, the Tiburon Mile, and tennis tournaments; and
WHEREAS, Woodlands has also donated to the Landmarks Society and is a member of the Rotary Club; has provided snacks at the Tiburon Half Marathon, and participated in the Annual Wine Festival and
Tiburon Classic Car Show; and
WHEREAS, Woodlands has even demonstrated its commitment to integration in the community by cleaning the garden boxes and replanting new vegetables for the upcoming season at Reed Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, in 2020 alone, Woodlands Tiburon made 139 donations representing 4,138 pounds of food, in partnership with Extra Foods, helping end hunger in Marin amid the COVID-19 pandemic crisis; and
WHEREAS, founder Don Santa refers to the COVID-19 pandemic as uncharted territory, but Woodlands’ efforts to step up for the community represent the incredible bond that has been built between the store
and the Tiburon community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon hereby commends Woodlands Market on its well-deserved selection as the Chamber’s 2021 Business of the Year
and expresses its sincere appreciation to Woodlands Market for its contributions to the quality of life in the town of Tiburon.
