Hi Lea,
I would like to make the following suggestions for upcoming cultural events for the 2022-2023 year in Tiburon.
Most importantly, I feel that Tiburon events are sorely under promoted. We could be the most popular destination
spot in Marin with the right advertising. We are scenic, picturesque, small and cozy. I harken to the days of old
when so many of us would sail over from SF just to see and be seen at Sam's or the former, Guaymas. And now we
have a Michael Minna signature restaurant to entice visitors to our lovely hamlet. I would like to see Main St closed
every weekend from May thru October. WITH HEAT LAMPS.
Here are some ideas for future cultural events:
1. MAY 5TH: Mexican story telling at our library for the kiddies. Followed by a Cinco De Mayo Celebration
with outdoor seating (Main St.) Featuring a salsa band (with free salsa lessons for all) A Tequila Booth, and
Mexican themed food offerings.
2. JUNE 13TH: (on Sunday June 12th) Juneteenth celebration featuring Black History story telling at out
library for the kiddies. Followed by a festive party celebrating African-American culture. Craft booths, food
booths, and a kick'n "Old School" funk and blues band. Outdoors on Main St.
3. JULY 4TH, Monday. Fourth of July celebration with craft and food booths, a "Swing band" for dancing with
outside heaters, a must.
4. AUGUST 13TH, Saturday. A "Save The Planet" health fair with informational booths on recycling, banning
pesticides, organic gardening, etc with lectures throughout the day and of course, music.
5. SEPTEMBER. A grand multi-cultural street fair. Highly publicized. Many cultural food booths and multi-
cultural costumes. Music and dancing.France, Spain, Greece, Germany, Mexico, China, India, just to name
a few....
6. OCTOBER 30TH. (Sunday) Halloween celebration. Costume contests. One for kids up to 13, and one for
adults of all ages. Spooky stories at our library beforehand. Businesses can offer treats.
All events can be elaborated on. Open to all suggestions.Thank you!Lorraine Gemigniani
