RESOLUTION NO. 07-2022
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON
IMPLEMENTING THE PRACTICE THAT THE CURRENT TOWN COUNCIL
MEMBERS HAVE THE OPTION TO INTERVIEW DEPARTMENT HEAD FINALISTS
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon would like the option to interview
Town Department Head candidate finalists; and
WHEREAS, Department Head positions can be further defined as the Town Department
Heads listed in the annual budget document, or the Director of Administrative Services, the
Director of Community Development, the Director of Public Works, and the Chief of Police; and
WHEREAS, on January 19, 2022, the Town Council discussed the matter and agreed to
implement the practice that, in the event of an active Department Head recruitment process or
promotion, the Town Council members will each have the option to interview the candidate
finalists prior to final appointment.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council members will be given an
opportunity, but are not required, to interview the Town Department Heads candidate finalists
when the Town fills a vacant Town Department Head position. Any such participation by Town
Council members will be structured in order to maintain the confidentiality of the Town
Department candidate finalists. Additionally, while the Town Council members may share their
individual opinions to the Town Manager regarding the finalist applicants, the decision to appoint
any Department Head will be made in the sole discretion of the Town Manager pursuant to Section
2-8(c) of the Town’s Municipal Code.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Tiburon this 2nd day of March, 2022, by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Griffin, Ryan, Thier, Welner
NAYS: COUNCILMEMBERS: Fredericks
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
