HomeMy WebLinkAboutTC Res 2001-12-05 (5) RESOLUTION NO. 62-2001 -- A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TmURON COMMENDING THE MEMBERS OF THE STEWART DRIVE UNDERGROUND COMMITTEE FOR THEm EFFORTS TO UNDERGROUND UTILITIES IN THEm NEIGHBORHOOD WHEREAS, the unique location and beautiful views from the Stewart Drive neighborhood provided inspiration to a group of residents to explore the feasibility of undergrounding the utilities in their neighborhood; and WHEREAS, these residents discovered that undergrounding would greatly improve the safety and reliability of electrical service to their neighborhood, in addition to increasing property values and enhancing the aesthetics of the area; and WHEREAS, the residents realized that the challenges were great in forming a utility undergrounding district, because multiple prior attempts had failed; and WHEREAS, Silverado resident Victor ZsufIka personally appeared before the Town Council with monetary commitments from his neighbors interested in forming a utility undergrounding assessment district, and was so successful in his endeavors that the Town Council directed him to explore broadening the proposed District; and WHEREAS, Lee Darby, Joan Foster, John Kern, Margarita Perry, Jim Rushwick and Victor ,...., ZsufIka became the founding members of the "Stewart Drive Underground Committee"; and WHEREAS, members of the Stewart Drive Underground Committee canvassed the neighborhood seeking support and explaining the value in forming an assessment district in order to underground utilities; and WHEREAS, due to the Herculean efforts of the committee members, the Stewart Drive Underground Committee was able to gamer an ovelWhelming 80% majority of affirmative votes in order to form the district; and WHEREAS, this Committee continues to actively participated in the project management and oversight of the district, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town ofTiburon commends the Stewart Drive Underground Committee members Lee Darby, Joan Foster, John Kern, Margarita Perry, Jim Rushwick and Victor ZsufIka for their efforts in the betterment of the community as a whole through the undergrounding of utilities. PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council on this 5th day of December, 200 I, by the following vote: COUNClLMEMBERS: A YES: Fredericks, Gram, Matthews, Slavitz, Thompson ~~~ ,-...
