RESOLUTION NO. 2850
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF TIBURON DESIGNATING THE
TOWN'S MAR WEST PROPERlY FOR SALE TO
THE COUN1Y OF MARIN FOR A PUBLIC LIBRARY
WHEREAS, the Town of Tiburon owns a parcel of real property located at the
corner of Mar West and Tiburon Boulevard in the Town of Tiburon (hereafter the
"Mar West property"); and
WHEREAS, the property was dedicated to the Town as a gift by the Zelinsky
family to be used for public purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Marin County Free Library, working in conjunction with the
Tiburon Peninsula Library Committee, would like to build a new public library on
the Mar West property to serve the Tiburon and Belvedere communities; and
WHEREAS, the Town ofTiburon and County of Marin have previously signed
a Letter of Intent which sets forth the basic terms of a sale of the Mar West
property; and

WHEREAS, one of the conditions in the Letter of Intent was that the Town
Council determine that the Mar West property is not needed for Town purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Town through its Town Hall evaluation process has now
determined that the Mar West property is not necessary for a Town Hall.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town
of Tiburon:
1. That the Mar West property is set aside and reserved for sale to the
County of Marin for use as a public library subject to execution of a contract of sale
based on the terms set forth in the Letter of Intent.
2. That Town Staff is directed to commence negotiations with the County of
Marin for the purpose of preparing a final sales agreement to be approved by the
Town Council and the Board of Supervisors.
3. That the County of Marin and Library Committee be directed to work with
the Zelinsky family to establish an appropriate memorial to Fred and Juanita
Zelinsky.
