RESOLUTION NO. 2870
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TIBURON PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER
"SCHOOL'S OPEN - DRIVE CAREFULLY" MONTH
WHEREAS, once again, it is that time of year when millions of
children and young adults from throughout California will be returning to
their studies at grade schools and high schools in our state, and
WHEREAS, on streets and roads in every community in the Golden
State -- in ever-increasing numbers -- these students will be walking, riding
bikes and travelling in buses from home to school and back again, and
WHEREAS, that is why it is important that all citizens take extra
precaution to drive carefully and observe proper rules of the road during this
time of year when so many more children are out and about, especially
around schools, around school buses and in areas which children and young
adults often use to go to and from school, and

WHEREAS, in an effort to encourage all motorists to drive
particularly safely during this period when a majority of California's schools
are reopening, the California State Automobile Association is once again
coordinating a "School's Open -- Drive Carefully" campaign to alert all
California drivers to be aware that a new school year is upon us, and
WHEREAS, the CSAA is to be commended for their commitment to
making this a statewide program of activities and information focusing on the
safety and health of our state's children for their successful efforts in making
this an effective educational campaign, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council ofthe
Town of Tiburon proclaims September 1992 as "School's Open -- Drive
Carefully" month in Tiburon and urge all motorists to keep a watchful eye out
for children and young adults who will be returning to school during this
time of year.
