RESOLUTION NO. 2905
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF TIBURON COMMENDING
SERGEANT THOMAS A. AIELLO
FOR HIS OUTSTANDING WORK IN IDENTIFYING
A MURDER VICTIM "BABY .JANE DOE"
WHEREAS, in May of 1988, a small murdered infant, subsequently named "Baby
Jane Doe," was found on the shoreline of the Town of Tiburon, and
WHEREAS, a massive murder investigation was conducted by a team of investigators
comprised of Tiburon Police Department (including Sergeant Thomas A. Aiello) and Marin
County Sheriff's Department personnel to not only find the perpetrator of the crime, but
also to identifY the baby, but to no avail, and
WHEREAS, after a considerable period of time, the investigation was taken over
solely by Tiburon Police Department investigators, and Sergeant Aiello devoted much of his
own personal time on the investigation, never giving up hope of identifYing the child, and
WHEREAS, through Sergeant Aiello's assistance, the investigation focused on the
fact that the parents of the child could be a woman found murdered in Humboldt County
and a man found to have committed suicide in Seattle, Washington, and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Aiello's subsequent coordination of the investigation led to
Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) testing which positively identified the murdered woman and
man found in Seattle to be the parents of "Baby Jane Doe" and allowed "Baby Jane Doe"
to be laid to rest with her mother,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council, on behalf of the
residents of the Town of Tiburon, does hereby commend Sergeant Thomas A. Aiello, and
express heartfelt appreciation of the community for his tireless five years of efforts in
helping identifY the young victim of this very violent crime.

of Tiburon on March 31. 1993 by the following vote:
