HomeMy WebLinkAboutTC Res 1993-03-31 (2) r RESOLUTION NO. 2906 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON COMMENDING CORPORAL PETER J. TOMASZEWSKI FOR HIS OUTSTANDING WORK IN IDENTIFYING A MURDER VICTIM "BABY .JANE DOE" WHEREAS, in May of 1988, a small murdered infant, subsequently named "Baby Jane Doe," was found on the shoreline of the Town of Tiburon, and WHEREAS, a massive murder investigation was conducted by a team of investigators comprised of Tiburon Police Department and Marin County Sherifrs Department personnel to not only find the perpetrator of the crime, but also to identity the baby, but to no avail, and WHEREAS, after a considerable period of time, the investigation was taken over solely by Tiburon Police Department investigators, and r WHEREAS, Corporal Peter J. Tomaszewski, when assigned specifically as the Police Department's investigator, renewed the murder investigation and, through relentless and outstanding investigative work, doggedly pursued his "hunch" that the parents of the child were a missing woman found murdered in Humboldt County and a man found to have committed suicide in Seattle, Washington, and WHEREAS, Corporal Tomaszewski ensured and coordinated Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) testing which positively identified the murdered woman and man found in Seattle to be the parents of "Baby Jane Doe," and WHEREAS, because of Corporal Tomaszewski's investigation, "Baby Jane Doe" is now identified and can be laid to rest with her mother, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council, on behalf of the residents of the Town of Tiburon, does hereby commend Corporal Peter J. Tomaszewski and express heartfelt appreciation of the community for his tireless efforts in helping identity the young victim of this very violent crime after five years. lr r ~ lr PASSED AND ADOPTED at an adjourned meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon on March 31, 1993 by the following vote: AYES: Kuhn COUNCILMEMBERS: Friedman, Nygren, Thayer, Thompson, None None Cl4&/L ALVIN R.
