RESOLUTION NO. 14-2024
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON COMMEMORATING THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF INCORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON AND DECLARING THE WEEKEND OF JUNE 15 AS CELEBRATE TIBURON WEEKEND
WHEREAS, in 1963, residents of the Tiburon Peninsula petitioned the Marin County Board of
Supervisors to incorporate as the City of Tiburon, and in an election on June 2, 1964, the petition to create the City of Tiburon passed; and WHEREAS, on June 23, 1964, the newly elected City Council of the City of Tiburon was sworn
into office and the first City Council meeting was held; and
WHEREAS, in 1979, the City of Tiburon determined it preferred to be known as the Town of Tiburon to reinforce its unique charm and character; and
WHEREAS, in the 60 years that have passed since incorporation, the Town of Tiburon’s unique
charm and character has endured decades of transformation to the Tiburon peninsula; and WHEREAS, over the years, the stewards of Tiburon have worked diligently on projects for managing improvements, maintaining our natural beauty, master planning for the future, and
implementing policy to balance the desires for preservation and progress; and
WHEREAS, over the years, the spirit of our community has remained steadfast, and it is our community that makes Tiburon our home.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Town of Tiburon wishes to commemorate its
sixty years of incorporation and to honor this milestone with a weekend of community-oriented events. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the weekend of June 15th, 2024, be declared “Celebrate
Tiburon Weekend” and the Town Council hereby invites all members of the community to
commemorate the weekend by attending Friday Nights on Main with the Del Mar Graduates, the annual Classic Car Show, and the annual Juneteenth Celebration downtown. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council wishes to express its appreciation to the
volunteers that dedicate their time and energy to enriching the quality of life in Tiburon.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon on June 5, 2024, by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Fredericks, Nikfar, Ryan, Thier, Welner
NAYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
