Review presentation and proposal from Local Edition Creative for public art exhibit in town. https://www.localeditioncreative.com/ ACTION ITEMS AI-1. Lower Gallery Exhibit Date Change. Consider approval of changing the Cedars of Marin lower gallery show to October and November to allow Landmarks Society to have December and January for their show. Choose January date for Landmarks Society opening reception. AI-2. Contemporary Indigenous Artist Exhibit, Lower Gallery. Consider approval of hosting an exhibit featuring local contemporary Indigenous artists in the Lower Gallery as part of this year’s Emerging Artists initiative. Town staff is currently addressing a backlog of meeting minutes from 2023 and 2024 that require
completion. Staff members are systematically working through meeting recordings to ensure accurate and
comprehensive documentation of all Commission proceedings.
To facilitate the timely approval of these minutes while maintaining thoroughness, packets of completed
minutes will be presented for Commission review and approval at each upcoming meeting until all
backlogged minutes have been processed.
For the Commission’s review and approval, the minutes from four meetings in 2023 are enclosed: April
25, May 4, May 30, and June 27.

Richard Rozen had two items to discuss:
1. Membership of the Public Art Selection Panel is dwindling and there needs to be a strategy to keep it going. He would like this brought up at a future meeting. 2. He suggests that the Commission look seriously at placing a sculpture in Zelinsky Park. There’s no anchor in terms of an art piece and would like to strategize on placing one.
ACTION ITEMS AI-1. Receive update on Thomas Jackson public art installation. Review budget and funds raised to date and consider approval of specific expenditures including but not limited to an increase in
project charges, opening day marketing and reception(s). Consider approval of draft marketing

None CHAIR REPORT Chair Gupta provided an update on the following:
• Howard Lazar Sculpture Exhibit: this artist had created a historical bust for the railroad museum,
and though we like the work, but since sculpture exhibits aren’t appropriate for the Town Hall spaces, and
the bust is not weather resistant, we can’t work with this artist at this time.
• Public Art Program: We don’t have any ideas yet for a large-scale public art program for 2025 and
we would like to add this to the next agenda for discussion of some ideas.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion: To approve the January 28, 2025 minutes. Moved: Gupta 2nd: Fong All in favor: Unanimous ACTION ITEMS AI-1. Artist Exhibitions. Consider approval of Cedars of Marin artist exhibition in the Lower Gallery for October and November for one of the Emerging Artists exhibitions. Motion: to approve inviting the artists of Cedars of Marin for an exhibition in the Lower Gallery for the
months of October, November, and part of December until the Town Hall closes for the holiday break, and for Commissioner Fong to be the liaison between the Town and Cedars of Marin. Review expenses involved in the creation of the Artist Laureate Wall and consider approval to move forward with the installation of signage and lighting. DI-2. Artist Laureate Ad Hoc Committee Update Interviews rescheduled for late March when Mayor Thier is available. Staff Liaison Miller to reach out to
the mayor to arrange dates.
DI-3. Emerging Artist Outreach Update Chair Gupta expressed an interest in inviting the indigenous artists that recently showed at the Marin Center to show at Town Hall. Staff Liaison Miller to connect him and the Media Manager for the Cultural Services department at the County of Marin.
DI-4. Local Collaboration (Chamber, Cinelounge, Library) Ad Hoc Committee Update
No update was given, but interest was expressed in hosting a film festival at Cinelounge that could feature non-profits, animated films, and a festival that would involve and engage young people. CALENDAR DATES
