MAYOR'S PROCLAMATION
COMMENDING
BATTALION Cu[1(nE1F ED LYNCH
UPON HIS RETIREMENT FOLLOWING 34 YEARS OF SERVICE
TO THE 'TIBURON COMMUNITY
WIH(1ER1EAS, Ed Lynch began his career as a volunteer with the Tiburon Fire District in
1980 while still a student at Marin Catholic High School;
I \\JH[]ERIEAS, Ed was hired as a firefighter in 1981 and promoted to Engineer in 1984; this
promotion was followed shortly thereafter when Ed was named Lieutenant that same year; he
earned the rank of Captain in 1986, and then Battalion Chief in 1993;
WJH(]E}R LEAS, Ed's roots run deep in the Tiburon community, and he brought not only his
life-long knowledge of the Town to his job as a firefighter, but a deep sense of being part of this
place we love and call home;
\�,\V1HHER.1EI\S, in addition to his service to the Tiburon Fire Protection District, Ed's
contributions to the community include being a leader of parades, a director of the Tiburon
Peninsula Foundation, a member and officer of the San Francisco Yacht Club, and all-around good
neighbor and friend;
WHEREAS, Ed can also be credited with helping to found the Get Ready disaster
preparedness program, along with former Belvedere Mayor Tom Cromwell and former Tiburon
Mayor Larry Smith, who championed this program on behalf of the Town, leading to its eventual
acceptance as the standard for disaster preparedness in communities throughout Marin;
NOW T ]HHERIEIFOIRIE, 1, Mayor Frank X. Doyle, on behalf of the Town Council and the
Tiburon community, do hereby heartily commend, congratulate and thank Ed Lynch for his 34
years of outstanding service to the Tiburon Fire Protection District and all residents of the Tiburon
community. May you enjoy your retirement but continue to be part of our lives!
