A Resolution of the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon
Commending
MARGARET A. ("PEGGY") CURRAN
upon her Retirement from the Town of Tiburon
WHEREAS, Margaret, known to her friends, townspeople and staff simply and
affectionately as "Peg" or "Peggy", began her career in Tiburon in October, 2006, after being
recruited from the faraway State of Colorado;
WHEREAS, Peggy, being the quick study that she is, jumped immediately into the
execution of her duties as Tiburon Town Manager and soon got up to speed with the important
projects and issues facing the Town;
WHEREAS, Peggy's character was revealed through a speech she delivered to staff early
in 2007 in which she affirmed her workplace values and beliefs -- Customer Service, Team
Work, Stake in the Solution, Honesty and Integrity, Industriousness and Initiative, to name a few
— and all of which go far in describing how Peggy is perceived and how she has been able to
provide outstanding public service to the citizens of Tiburon over the past nine years;
WHEREAS, Peggy initiated the Town's first electronic newsletter, Tiburon Talk, in
which she has kept the townspeople apprised of the actions taken by the Council and discussed
everything that was timely and of importance to the community in a friendly and informal
manner; and
WHEREAS, Peggy advanced the cause of the greater community through her service
with a number of joint powers authorities in Marin, such as the Major Crimes Task Force and the
Hazardous and Solid Waste JPA; and she also served with distinction as the President and
Treasurer of the Marin Manager's Association;
WHEREAS, Peggy was a key player with the Councils of Tiburon and Belvedere in
helping to find and build a permanent home at Dairy Knoll for the Belvedere -Tiburon Joint
Recreation department;
WHEREAS, Peggy played an integral part of the Town Council's Downtown Marketing
Task Force, which eventually led to the formation of a group dedicated to Tiburon's promotion,
called "Destination Tiburon";
WHEREAS, it is clear to all who know her that there is really nothing Peggy cannot do
once she sets her mind to it;
WHEREAS, it is also clear that Peggy has always been available as a friend to staff,
Councilmembers, and others who have worked with her;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council recognizes Peggy for
her outstanding Customer Service, Team Work, Stake in the Solution, Honesty and Integrity,
Industriousness and Initiative, on behalf of the Tiburon community for the last nine years;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council hereby extends its sincerest
thanks and appreciation to Town Manager Margaret A. ("Peggy") Curran on the occasion of her
retirement, and commends and congratulates her for a job well done;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council, on behalf of the Town,
wishes Peggy a long, happy and healthy retirement, with the hope that we all can enjoy her
company, and that of her husband, Josh, at many future Town events and functions.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council on December 2,
2015 by the following vote:
