RESOLUTION NO. 04-2001

A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF TlBURON, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING
THE CONCEPTS AND EFFORTS OF THE
CALIFORNIA IDGHWAY PATROL IN A TRAFFIC STOP
DEMOGRAPIDC DATA COLLECTION GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, The California Highway Patrol has received grant funds to distribute monies to
those participating California local law enforcement agencies to offset the costs created by traffic stop
demographic data collection; and
WHEREAS, the Town ofTiburon is located within the geographic area where data collection is
to occur; and
WHEREAS, the Grant allows funds for local law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, the collecting of demographic data is important in acting as a deterrent to racial
profiling.
NOW, TIffiREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED that the Town Council of the Town ofTiburon
expresses strong support in the collection of traffic stop demographic data; and Staff is directed to
submit application documents to the California Highway Patrol Office of Research and Planning.
