RESOLUTION NO. 2682
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF TIBURON IN RECOGNITION OF
REV. GEORGE E. JOHNSON'S
RETIREMENT FROM ST. HILARY CHURCH
WHEREAS, Rev. George E. Johnson has served 23 years at St. Hilary's Church in
Tiburon -- three years as Administrator and 20 years as Pastor, and
WHEREAS, Father Johnson is a third-generation San Franciscan, having graduated
from Balboa High School, attended the University of San Francisco and St. Patrick's
Seminary in Menlo Park, and was ordained in June 1946, and
WHEREAS, Father Johnson was first assigned to St. Leo's in Oakland-Piedmont
and then transferred to St. John's, San Francisco; St. Stanislaus in Modesto; Chaplain at
Notre Dame Hospital, San Francisco; Holy Name Parish, San Francisco, and St.
Bartholomew's in San Mateo, and
WHEREAS, Father Johnson has always been active in both his parishes and the
communities where he served. He is a charter member of the Belvedere/Tiburon Rotary
Club, and for 24 years, he has been one of the three (3) chaplains who annually bless the
boats on Opening Day of the San Francisco Bay Yachting Season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council on behalf of the
citizens of the Town of Tiburon does hereby commend and express its appreciation to Rev.
George E. Johnson for his dedicated service and many contributions to the Tiburon
community, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council extends its best regards for
a rewarding retirement and much happiness in Father Johnson's future role at St. Hilary's
as Pastor Emeritus.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Tiburon on April 4, 1990 by the following vote:
