RESOLUTION NO. 2737
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TIBURON CONGRATULATING THE CI1Y
OF BELVEDERE UPON THE OCCASION OF ITS
100 YEARS AS A RESIDENTIAL COMMUNI1Y
WHEREAS, in 1890, the Belvedere Land Company was established to
create a residential park on Belvedere Island, and
WHEREAS, the first Belvedere cottages and homes were completed
and occupied in 1891 and many became historic residences known as "Castle
Crest", "The Pagoda", "The Anchorage", and "The Log Cabin", and
WHEREAS, early Belvederians were drawn to Belvedere Island for its
natural beauty and serene lifestyle, and in its early years, Belvedere became
renowned for its residential ark colony, boat building activities, codfishery,
the Belvedere Hotel and the Belvedere Golf and County Club, and
WHEREAS, for 100 years, the Citizens of Belvedere have maintained
the residential uniqueness of the community and have always demonstrated
a strong public spirit regarding their community, and
WHEREAS, the City of Belvedere and Town of Tiburon continue to
enjoy a close relationship and cooperative spirit for the overall enrichment
and betterment of the Tiburon Peninsula community,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Council of the
Town of Tiburon does hereby unanimously commend and extend its best
wishes to the City of Belvedere upon its 100 years as a most outstanding
residential community.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council
of the Town of Tiburon on September 5, 1990 by the following vote:
