Re: Town Counsel Meeting October 15, 2008
Cypress Hollow Park
Homeowner's Comments
Dear Counsel Members:
I currently reside at 60 Cypress Hollow Drive in the Cypress Hollow
addition. My home is directly across the street from Cypress Hollow Park, at the
west end. I can see the entire park from all of the front windows in my home as
well as from the windows on the east side of my home. I have lived in my home in
Cypress Hollow since June 1, 1994. At the time I moved into my home the
development was new, only four houses had been constructed.
Recently I received notice of the meeting on October 15th to discuss the
proposal to renovate the children's play area in Cypress Hollow Park. Unfortunately
I '.Jllill be attendi:'2g my daught.er's s~hool plFlY on theeVAning of October 15th Rnd 1
will not be able to attend the counsel meeting. Therefore I thought it best to send
this letter to the Counsel in order to express my thoughts about the Cypress Hollow
Park Agenda item.
When I first moved to Cypress Hollow all of the playground equipment
was screened by the row of trees planted between the playground equipment and
the lawn and flower beds next to Cypress Hollow Drive. I was told by the developer
of the Cypress Hollow subdivision that the County required that the playground
equipment, except for the swings on the east side of the Park, be screened from the
street and the homes along Cypress Hollow Drive.
Over the years the trees have grown and the lower branches have
been trimmed away making the playground equipment visible to the street and to
the homes facing north on Cypress Hollow Drive. Some years ago I was told that the
trees were to be replaced, with smaller trees that would properly screen the
equipment, but I understand that a decision was made not to do so.
If the playground is to be renovated, and/or reconfigured I ask that the
original plan be kept to screen the playground equipment from the street and the
homes along Cypress Hollow Dr.
Thank you considering my thoughts. If you have any questions

Sugar Loaf Tank Replacement Project
Dear Neighbor:
The purpose of this letter is to announce an upcoming tank replacement project in your
neighborhood. We know the importance of advising you of our scheduled presence in your
neighborhood so that we can work together to understand the disturbance inherent in
making these improvements. If you call us, we would be glad to meet with you and provide
more details about the construction schedule, work staging, and traffic impacts.
Marin Municipal Water District (District) works on the design to replace a 44-year old
redwood water storage tank located between houses at 141 Sugar Loaf Drive and 1 Place
Moulin. This project will increase water storage capacity in the area to meet the District's
standard. The existing 100,000 gallon redwood tank will be replaced with two welded steel
tanks 127,000 gallon capacity each for a total storage of 254,090 gallons. A map showing
the location of the project is on the back of this letter. This project is one of the District's
Capital Improvement Projects, and has been chosen because of the inadequacy of the
existing water storage for the area.
'. In the next few months you may see the District's employees in the area involved in
planning, design and preparation for the project. As, required by the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) the District will prepare the environmental feport that
will be available for public review prior to start of the construction.
The work is anticipated to begin in May 2009 and is expected to be-complete byOeoember
2009. The work has various stages including site grading, installation of two tanks, piping,
pressure and quality testing, etc. You will notice short breaks between stages with no
construction activity.
For more information, please contact me at {415) 945-1508. I appreciate your patience
and cooperation. Thank you.

Coating Maintenance Work at - Mt Tiburon Tank #1, Tiburon
PLANNING DIVISION
Dear Mr. Andersen:
The Marin Municipal Water District will be recoating the interior and exterior of the older of two steel
water storage tanks located in your neighborhood at the end of Mt. Tiburon Rd. This work is being done
as part of our ongoing tank coating maintenance program. The goals of this program are to extend the
useful life of District facilities, maintain system reliability, and to imprOve water quality. As with any
construction project, noise and minor inconveniences may occur. For example, equipment will be
moved in and out of the area from time to time; and some equipment. may be temporarily parked along
the access road leading to the tanks. In all cases, the Contractor will be required to take all necessary
steps to minimize public inconvenience.
Work on this project is anticipated to begin Monday, January 5, 2009 aftd, assuming no delays, should
be completed by Friday, April 3, 2009. Work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 9:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. No work will be allowed on Sunday or on holidays. The exception to
these hours will be the operation of dehumidification (DH) equipment.
. .
The use of DH equipment will speed the interior coating process and shorten the duration of the project.
This equipment keeps the tank interior warm and dry, which allows the Contractor to avoid delays from
changes in weather. Additionally, this equipment allows the Contractor to remove all existing coating
prior to applying the new coating, thus providing a better quality of workmanship and a longer coating
life. DH equipment needs to be in operation 24 hours a day once interior surface preparation begins
and needs to remain in operation during coating application and coating cure. For this project, DH
equipment can be expected to be in operation approximately two weeks after the Contractor begins
moving equipment to the site and will be in operation for approximately five weeks. The Contractor will
enclose the equipment with sound proofing material to reduce noise levels. The District will also work
with the Contractor to determine a location for the equipment to minimize the noise level.
Our intention is to make this project as clean and quiet as possible. Based on our experience with tanks
in similar locations, we believe that the sound levels will not be unduly disturbing and we appreciate your
understanding during the period of our work. If you have any questions regarding the project, please
call me at 945-1581.
Very Truly Yours,
~~en
