RESOLUTION.NO. ~
RESOLUTION TO THE LEGISIATURE OF THE STATE OF C'ALIFORNIA,
PETITIONING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PERM\NENT tONTltOLS
OVER DEVELOPMENT IN AND ON THE SHORES OF SAN. FBANd1SCO BAY J
WHEREAS the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commis-
sion will, by statute, be dissolved and its powers te~inated 90 days after
the adjournment of the present session of the State Legislature, unless said
Legislature acts to further extend said powers in the Commission or a body
successor thereto;
AND WHEREAS, since coming into being, said Commission bas exercised
judicious control over development in and on the shores of San Francisco Bay;
to the extent that, for the first time in the history of the Bay real promise
has appeared that this invaluable asset will not be spoiled as an asset nor
',-
destroyed as a fundamental unit of our environment;
AND WHEREAS, continued regulation, in implementation of such plans
and programs as shall evolve from legislative action on the studies of said
Commission, is essential to permanently securing the benefits thus far achieved;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF mE CITY OF
TIBURON:
THAT the Legislature of the State of California be petitioned to
take tmmediate measures to provide permanent control of the waters and shores
of San Francisco Bay consistent with the purposes of said Commission:
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT such actions as are hereinbefore petitioned be accomplished in
timely fashion SO that there will be no interregnUM of control, during which
ttme irreversible damage through development might occur, thus destroying both
the hope and the purposes sought.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
eity of Tiburon held on January 27, 1969~ by the following vote:
