RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TIBUROI ERDORSIHG APPLICATION OF STA'l'E
CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION .lGERCY, DEPlRTHENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS, TO THE DEPAlmmNT OF THE ARm' FOR A PERHIT ro PLACE HIGHWAY
FILL ALONG EASTERLY SHORE LINE OF RICHARDsoI BAY
WHEREAS, in 1957 the camani.ties of Belvedere, Tiburon and strawbe1'r1'
joined with JII&1')y other public spirited. citizens and. orgaDizations, in-
cludiDg the Calitornia HigJ:1wq Colllllission, in the protection and preserva..
tion or Richardson Bq trOll 1'iJ.l.i.Dg by private developers and in the

establishllent ot the Richardson Bay Bird Lite Sanctlla1'7; and.

WHEREAS, an integral part of this joint effort was the acquisition by
the state Higblrq Department of a right-of -wq along the easter:1l" shore of
Richardson Bq for the improvement of Tiburon Boulevard from Trestle Glen
Road to the city of Belvedere; and
WHEREAS, the highwq aloDg the right-of'-n;r so acquired would r8Jll0Te
through traff'ic from residential areas and would carrr such trattic DIOre
d1rectJ,y &Dei sateJ,y than the existing boulevard, thereby contributing greatJ,y
to the satety, convenience and. prosperity of the citiz8!1s of Belvedere and

HCM, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that thttt Tiburon City C01U1Cil endorses

the application by the state ot Cal:1:tomia Highwq Transportation Agency',
Department of Public Works, for a permit trom the Department at the Ar1Iq
to place a higlDrq :till along the ea.sterJ,y shore liDe of Richardson Bq
betwee1'1 Trestle Glen Road :d.m !ibvon and. San Ratael Avenue in Belvedere
and declares its desire and intention to cooperate with the Cali1'ornia
Highwq ColBIission and the state Division of HigbJrq's in the design and
developaent of such higlDrq to the end that the highwq mq be established

as a scenic h1ghsrq preserving aDd contributing to the superlative beauty
of our cOJDlllllDi ty .
