RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TIBURON EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR
FORMATION OF MARIN RAPID TRAlf3IT DISTRICT
WHImFAS, there 1s an urgent need in Marin County and
the City of Tiburon for SaBe form of modern, fast, comfor-
table, convenient, efficient and economical public transpor-
tation to serve the res idents of the area; and
WHEREAS, various studies have indicated that rapid
transit rail transportation 18 not feasible for Marin County
in the foreseeable future; and
WHEREAS, under applicable law the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Marin is authorized and empowered to submit
to the electorate the question of whether Marin County should
create a rapid transit district; and
WHmEAS, it is tbe opinion of the City Council of the
City of Tiburon that the formation of a rapid transit dis-
trict would be bighly beneficial to the County of Marin and
the City of Tiburon; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of ehe City of T1b~u.on be-
li!vea that the Board of Supervisors of the County o.f Marin
should be urged to submit the matter to the votet:'- flt, the
earliest convenient date;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLV ED AS FOLLatlS:
1. The City Council of the City of Tiburon here-
by declares that it favors the formation of a rapid transit
district for Marin County and urges all residents of Tiburon
and Marin County to support the formation of such districc.
2. The City Council of the City of Tiburon
urges the Board of Supervisors of tbe County of Marin to
submit the question of whether Marin County should create a
rapid transit district to the electorate at the general elec-
tion on November 3, 1964.
3. The City Council of the City of Tiburon
urges the rapid transit district, if created, to thoroughly
investigate all possible means of providing a modern, fast,
comfortable bus system. together with convenient scheduling
and low fares.
