RESOLUTION NO. 36
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TIBURON INDICATING OPPOSITION TO
AMEND I NG THE CONSTI TUT! ON OF THE STATE OF CALI FORN I A AS
PROPOSED BY PROPOSITION #14 AS IT WILL APPEAR ON THE BALLOT
NOVEMBER 3, 1964
BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS the City Council has considered Proposition #14 and finds that
the moral, material and ethical aspects are not areas in which the
Council should involve itself;
AND WHEREAS the City Councl I has addressed itself to the political
implications of Proposition #14 and finds that the passage of this
amendment would preclude legislation by this Counci I and our
successors to consider any ordinance in the area of discriminatory
housing practices;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Tiburon would like to retain the right of future city counci Is to
take what actions they may deem necessary in the area of discriminatory
housing practices and for that reason indicates its opposition to
Proposition #14.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the City Counci I of the City of
Tiburon on the 28th day of September, 1964, by the fol lowing vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: EI I inwood, Hannahs, Strawbridge
NOES: COUNCILMEN: Souza
ABSTAIN: COUNCILMEN: Hoffmire
ABSENT: COUNC ILMEN : None
