RESOLUT ION NO. 46
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TIBURON
PROPOSING THE INVOCATION OF A MORATORIUM ON THE
FILLING AND DEVELOPMENT OF TIDELANDSj THE
PREPARATION OF A GENERAL PLANj AND OTHER UNDERTAKINGS
WHEREAS the Counci I of the City of Tiburon is concerned about the hap-
hazard fi I I ing and development of tidelands in the County of Marin; and
is itself considering the enactment of a moratorium on fi I I ing of al I
tidelands under its jurisdiction1 and;
WHEREAS we are aware that a cohesive1 viable plan for recognition of
conservation values1 private property rights1 ecological factors and
so forth cannot be achieved through uni lateral action but must be supp-
orted in the ful lest measure of cooperation and understanding from the
County of Marin;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That the Counci I of the City of Tiburon does ask of the Board of
Supervisors of Marin County that it invoke a moratorium on fi I ling
and development of tidelands within its jurisdiction; that it cause
to be prepared a tidelands element of its general plan with which
plans of local agencies may be coordinated; and that the Planning
Department of the County be directed to evolve1 in conjunction with
the City of Tiburon, a bulkhead I ine for the shores of the Tiburon
Peninsula1 so that compatible development of tidelands may be
considered.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of December 1 Nineteen Hundred and
Sixty Four1 by the fol lowing vote:
