RESOLUT I ON I~O. 88
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TIBURON URGING DEFERMENT
OF ACTION ON CONSTRUCTION OF A
SECOND DECK O~J THE GOLDEN GATE
BRIDGE
WHEREAS, the Direc+ors of the Golder. Gate Bridge District, on
October 4, 1965, lIendorsed in principle" the construction of a second deck
on the Golden Gate Bridge; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge District
have scheduled a meeting at 10:00 A.M., October 29, 1965, to take further
action on the subject of a second deck; and
WHEREAS, there is now in existence the Bay Area Transportation Study
Co~mission, appointed by the Governor of the State of Cal ifornfa, with an
approprIation of $3,465,000; and
WHEREAS, said Study Co~missio~ has ~ot completed its work on the overal'
transportation problems the San Francisco Bay Area; and
WHEREAS, the 1965 legislature did appropriate $800,000 for a study
of transportation problems between San Francisco County and Marin County;
and
WHEREAS, said San Francisco-Marin study did not commence unti I
September 17, 1965; and
WHEREAS, this Counci I considers the question of placing a second
deck upon the Golden Gate Bridge a most serious matter;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE Tiburon City Counci I does
urge the Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge to defer action on a second deck
on the Golden Gate Bridge until such time as the aforemer.tloned studIos are
either completed or have provided sufficient information upon which a decision
can be based regarding a second deck on the Golden Gate Bridge.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a mee+ing of the City Counci I of the City of Tiburon
on the 25th day of October, 1965, by the tol lowing vote:
