HomeMy WebLinkAboutTC Res 1966-02-28 RESOLUTION 96 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TIBURON COMMENDING THE TIBURON CHAMBER OF COM- MERCE FOR ITS PROPOSAL TO ERECT A MEMORIAL TO BLACKIE THE SWAY-BACKED HORSE AND URGING CITIZEN SUPPORT FOR THIS EFFORT WHEREAS the death of Blackie the sway-backed horse is felt with a real sense of loss throughout the community, and WHEREAS the affection shown for Blackie the sway-backed horse during the latter part of his life proved the one area in which the community found itself in complete agreement, and WHEREAS the City takes full cognizance of the loss of Blackie the sway-backed horse, a landmark of Tiburon for 28 years, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: The City Council of the City of Tiburon commends the Tiburon Chamber of Commerce for its proposal to solicit donations for a permanent memorial to Blackie the sway-backed horse to take the form of a statue in his image, which memorial would partially alleviate the loss felt by several generations of Tiburon citi- zens; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in commending the Tiburon Chamber of Commerce for its efforts the City Council of the City of Tiburon pledges its full sup- port and urges the participation and support of all of the citizens of Tiburon for this worthy endeavor.
