HomeMy WebLinkAboutTC Res 1971-03-22 (4) RESOLUTION NO. 348 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TIBURON COMMENDING WAYNE MOODY FOR HIS GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO THE PROGRESS AND GROWTH OF THIS CITY DURING HIS INCUMBENCY AS ITS PIRST PLANNING DIRECPOR~ MAKING HIM AN HONORARY CITIZEN OF THE CITY OF TIBURON~ AND EXTENDING THE CITY'S GOOD WISHES TO HIM AND HIS FAMILY FOR THEIR HAPPINESS AND HIS CONPINUED PROFESSIONAL ADVANCEMENT. WHEREAS: Wayne Moody~ Arehiteot and City Planner~ entered upon his duties as the City of Tiburon's,first P~anning Director on Nay S~ 1969~ and WHEREAS: This position as a department head was also a "fiz-st" fop Wayne Moody~ and WHEREAS: In the coupss of the succeeding ~o yeaps both the City~ - its offioials~ its staff and its eitiaens - and Wayne Moody~ The Plannez-~ have gpown in an understanding of what the planning process is and of its interaotion with the ~egis~ative proeess as a part of the continual implementation of the preeepts of our demoeratie sooiety; ~hieh understanding has been furthered by his writing a weekly oolumn in the looal press~ and WHEREAS: ' Because of his undepstanding of the real needs of this oommunity~ he did not permit his own personal oommitment to the aohievement of far goals to interfere with a reoognition of the 'reality that these goals are attained only with the aohievement 'of a series of near obieotives~ and WHEREAS: By virtue of the preoeding~ during his inoumbenoy: . 1) He organized and so struotured the Planning Depaptment as to practioes and prooedures that a minimum of dislooation ~i~l oocur in transition to a new department head; 2) The City adopted a Do~nto~n Plan ~hioh had been in prepapation and a state of fluz sinoe 1965; 3) The City adopted neoessary modifications to its Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances which "kept the City's. regulations current ~ith' the ever gro~ing recognition of the role and responsibilities of Urban P~anning boti to lead in~ and to ref~eot~ the sooial changes of our time; 4) The City adopted a Master Trails Plan~ a Comppehensive Sign Ordinance and a Master Plan for the redevelopment of a pub~io housing ppoieot into a moderate income development; began work towards the design of a ne~ highway not destruotive to the enviponment; initiated both the open space-oonservation and housing elements of its general pt..an~ and ' WHEREAS: In ~o~king ~ith the ~ommunity - its ~iti2ens~ its PZanning Commission~ its Pa~ks & Re~reation Commission~ its City Coun~il - Wayne Moody ~ame to be kno~n as a young man of great energy and ability~ having both a delightful sense of humor and g~eat sensitivity to the oon~erns of people~ ~illing to listen and to Zea~n~ and~ above aZZ~ having the highest pe~sonal and p~o- fessional integrity~ NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED that this City Counoil of the City of Tiburon~ hereby e:presses to Way~e Moody ~hat is kno~s to be the real feeling of the eommunity: that~ though it profoundly ~egrets his departure from the position of PZanning Dire~tor~ it aZso reoogniaes his personal and professional att~ibutes are su~h as to mandate his advanoement. Pherefo~e~ the City Counoil e:tends to Wayne Moody its ~ishes for muoh suooess and happiness as he begins a ne~ ohaZlenge in his ~areer~ and BE IT PURTHER RESOLVED that Wayne Moody is he~eby made an hono~ary oitiaen of the City and is ~a~mly invited to return ~heneve~ he is so inolined~ to visit ~here he and his family lived and ~orked.
