RESOLUTION NO. 326
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TIBURON
AMENDING THE TIBURON GENERAL PLAN TO
INCLUDE THE TIBURON TRAILS PLAN, PHASE 2
WHEREAS: The City of Tiburon has indicated its intent to develop
a Trails Plan for the peninsula by negotiating a contract with the
County of Marin to develop such a plan; and
WHEREAS: Public hearings have been held previously to consider
an overall trails plan; and
WHEREAS: The County Planning Department has revised those plans
consistent with public concerns expressed at previous hearings and
has submitted a more detailed implementation plan for the Ridge Trail
portion of the Trails Plan; and
WHEREAS: The Joint Committee of the Parks and Recreation Com-
mission and the Planning Coomission has reviewed the Phase 2 Tiburon
Trails Plan and has submitted the recom~endations in a Joint Committee
report as amended, dated October 5, 1970, and attached to this
resolution; and
WHEREAS: The Planning Commission has reviewed the Phase 2,
Tiburon Trails Plan, has conducted a public hearing thereon, and has
recommended adoption of the plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT this City Council finds that the Tiburon Trails Plan, Phase
2, is consistent with the goals of the Tiburon General Plan and the
Tiburon Trails Syste~ and should be incorporated as an amendment to
the General Plan.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: This City Council does hereby find that
a substantial portion of the presently undeveloped Tiburon Ridge area
will significantly benefit a trails system if left in its undeveloped
and natural state and does hereby direct the Parks and Recreation
Commission to actively pursue with the affected property owners methods
of acquiring open space easements and/or other property rights.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: This City Council does hereby direct
the Parks and Recreation Commission to consider discussions of joint
use agreements with the Reed Union School District, the Tamalpais
Union High School District, and the Marin Municipal Water District for
use of these various district lands for park and recreation uses.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Tiburon City
Council on December 14, 1970, by the following vote:
