RESOLUTION NO.~
A r~SOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TIBURON RECOMMENDING THAT BCDC DENY AN
APPLICATION FOR DEVELO~mNT IN THE STRAWBERRY
COVE AREA.
WHEREAS: The City of Tiburon has consistently been involved in
planning for the unincorporated area of the peninsula, including Strawberry Cove;
and
WHEREAS: The City has previously recommended against higher
density apartment zoning for the Strawberry Cove area; and
l{HEREAS: The City feels that high density housing is not a neces-
sary use of the fragile natural shorelines of P~chardson Bay; and
WHEREAS: The necessary dredging for boat access will destroy
the qualities necessary to the natural wildlife aspects of the cove and, without
dredging for boat access, the proposed apartments would lose a substantial private
amenity thus, making the apartment development a typical development which could
be located elsewhere; and
WHEREAS: Zoning established during the existence of the BCDC
should not necessarily be allowed to dictate BCDC actions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: This City Council does hereb,y
recommend that BCDC deny the application now pending and instruct the County of
Marin to consider zoning which would allow devclopment which is more appropriately
related to the natural characteristics of the bay and cove.
