RESOLUTION NO. .1!JL.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TIBURON OPPOSING
AN ANNEXATION APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF MILL
VALLEY AND CALLING FOR A SIMIlAR APPLICATION
BY THE CITY OF TIBURON.
WHEREAS: The City of Tiburon has previously filed with the Local
Agency Formation Commission its intention to serve and annex the entire Tiburon
Peninsula to U. S. Highway lOl, and
WHEREAS: The City of Tiburon has been working, since its incorporation,
to unite and annex the Tiburon Peninsula in the best interests of the entire
communi ty, and
WHEREAS: The City of Mill Valley has filed an application to annex a
substantial portion of Tiburon r s "sphere of interest" as filed with the local
Agency Formation Co~ission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: The City of Tiburon, in an effort to
unite, rather than divide, the community, does hereby take the following actions:
(1) Opposes the Mill Valley application for several reasons, the most
important of which is the resultant loss in tax base to support
necessary sanitation and fire portection services not only to
residents of the unincorporated areas but also within the City
limits of Tiburon itself;
(2) Directs the staff to immediately prepare and submit an application
to the Local Agency Formation Commission for the most extensive
and feasible annexation of the Strawberry Area;
(3) Appoints the Ad-Hoc Committee of Councilmen Fanning and Sennett
to select a citizen's committee of residents of the affected areas
to work with the staff and Council in determining the most extensive
and feasible boundaries of other potential annexations in the same
general area as quickly and expeditiously as possible so that the
voters of the affected area may have the ultimate choice.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Tiburon City Council held
on
April 27
, 1970, by the following vote:
