RESOLUTION NO. 425
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TIBURON HONORING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE
INCORPORATION OF ITS SISTER CITY BELVEDERE, AND
URGING THE CITIZENS OF TIBURON TO JOIN WITH THEIR
BELVEDERE NEIGHBORS IN PARTICIPATING IN SPECIALLY
SCHEDULED ANNIVERSARY EVENTS.
~mEREAS; the City of Belvedere became the third incorporated
city in Marin County on December 24, 1896, and
tmEREAS; in the intervening 68 years between that date and
the incorporation of the neighboring community of Tiburon as
Marin County's eleventh city, these two communities joined together
in many areas of common concern . . . schools, library, post office,
preservation of the Old St. Hilary's Landmark, and
~-mEREAS; upon the incorporation of the City of Tiburon on
June 23, 1964, the first hand offered in friendship was Belvedere's,
and
WHEREAS; since that date the two cities have worked together
to solve jointly matters of common concern which would have been
more difficult to resolve separately.
NOt'l THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT the City Council of the City of Tiburon recognizes that
the community events celebrating Belvedere's Diamond Jubilee.
events which began on January 25, 1972 and are continuing through
July 29, 1972 . . . are of such historic and community interest
that they should be enjoyed by all who reside in the Belvedere-Tiburon
area and therefore it commends participation in them to all of its
citizens.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT the City Council of the City of Tiburon extends its
congratulations to its neighboring city for its long and well adminis-
tered past and expresses its hope that communications and cooperation
between our two cities will extend into the future and be of special
note in the occasion of Belvedere's Centennial.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Tiburon City
Council held on March 27, 1972, by the fOllowing vote:
