OF TIBURON O~pbSING GERRYMANDERING OF S7~T~
SENATORIAL DISTRICTS IN !1ARIN COUNTY AlTD THE
TIBURON PENINSULA.
t1HEREAS, the State Senate is in the process of reapportioning
the senatorial districts in accordance with revised population
figures; and
~VHEREAS, in the course of such redistricting, there is the
possibility that the political, economic, and geographical
integri ty of Harin County may be violated for purposes of partisan
political advantage and consideration of certain incumbents all
to the detriment of the citizens; and
!1HEREAS, it is possible that the Tiburon Peninsula itself
would become separated from the rest of Harin County in the event
redistricting based on such considerations is accomplished;
NOt'1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,
(1) The City Council of Tiburon strongly opposes any and all
gerrymandering of state senatorial districts which would result in
the removal of the Tiburon Peninsula or any part thereof from the
rest of Harin County.
(2) The City Council strongly urges that redistricting be
accomplished along logical geographical lines, with the prime
consideration being preservation of Marin County intact within any
revised senatorial district, and inclusion of Marin County with
other areas having like community interest.
(3) The City Council strongly urges that partisanship and
consideration of political personalities be made subserviant in the
redistricting process to the logical interests of the electorate.
