RESOLUTION NO. 395
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TIBURON ENDORSING THE PLANNED OCTOBER 13,
1971, TIBURON-BELVEDERE IIJOIN HANDS FOR PEACE"
WALK AND URGING THE CITIZENS OF THE CO~~~!ITY
TO PARTICIPATE.
~1HEREAS, the world has long been in the continuous grip of a
state of war at some place on the globe; and
~mEREAS, in particular the United States has been grievously
involved in a bitter war in Southeast Asia for too many long years,
and
~'1HEREAS', this war has cost the lives of Americans, Vietnamese,
Laotians, Thais, CambOdians, Australians, Koreans and those of
other nations in a number exceeding the combined population of
San Francisco and ~~rin Counties, with injuries sustained being ten
times that number; and
NHEREAS, the social structures of the societies of these
nations have been changed and are gravely threatened by the contin-
uation of this war.
NON THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of Tiburon does endorse the plans of a number of its citizens
to respond to the nation-wide call for a public expression of
, personal commitment within our various home communities on
t October 13, 1971, by joining hands for a peace walk with our neigh-
bors, ~'lhich walk will begin at 6: 30 P .H. at both ends of the
Richardson Bay Path and conclude at the top of Rock Hill Drive; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Tiburon City Council commends
those persons so dedicated to pursuing the need to end war in the
peaceful way of a democratic ~ociety as to organize this walk, and
urges the citizens of the community to join them in this public ex-
pression of personal commitment.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Tiburon held on September 27, 1971 by the follo\"1ing
