HomeMy WebLinkAboutTC Res 1972-11-13 RESOLUTION NO.~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TIBURON SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 1261 WHEREAS, the City of Tiburon through its participation in the Marin County Free Library's membership in the North Bay Cooperative Library System has received many benefits for its citizens: to wit WHEREAS, the freeing of library staff time in the Belvedere-Tiburon Branch of the Marin County.Free Library and the processing of books in the Processing Center maintained by the ~ystem; and' WHEREAS, the extension of the book, periodical, audio-visual, and communication resources of the Marin County Free Library through the ability freely to borrow such materials from the other libraries belonging to the System; and through the rapid System delivery and communication services, and WHEREAS, the improvement of library service to children in the Be1vedere- Tiburon Branch of the Marin County Free Library through the advice and assis- tance of the Consultant in Childrens' Services employed by the System; and Numerous other benefits of the like kind; and WHEREAS, the continued existence of the North Bay Cooperative Library System is dependent upon a program of financial assistance to library systems from the State of california; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1261 has been introduced into the State Legislature by Senator Randolph Collier for the purpose of providing full State funding of Public Library Services Act system activities within a three-year period, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Tiburon hereby endorses Senate Bill 1261 and urges its passage by the Legis- lature; signature of the Governor; and Hereby instructs the City Clerk to forward a copy of this resolution to the California Libr3ry.Aasociation, The League of California Cities, Assembly. man William T. Bagley, Senator Peter Behr and Governor Ronald Reagan.
