RESOLUTION NO. 556
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF '!'BE CITY OF TIBURON
ENDORSING CITIZENS' COMMITTEE TO PIAN OPEN Sa\CB ZONING
FOR THE RING MOUN'J1\IN AREA
WHEREAS: The Ring z.t>untain Area, extending from the City Limits of the
City of Tiburon to Highway 101 is an unexcelled open space resource within Marin
County with many unique geological and botanical features, and
WHEREAS, a number of proposals calling for large scale development
within tbe Ring MOuntain Area have been submitted to County authorities for approval
witbout there being a definitive and community approved plan for open space and
orderly residential development of said area, and
WHEREAS, the present park and open space areas on the Tiburon peninsula
are inadequate to serve the needs of present and future population of the Tiburon
peninsula, and
WHEREAS, Local Agency Formation Commission has declared much of the
Ring MOuntain Area to be within the sphere of influence of the City of Tiburon,
NOW,tHEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the City Council of the City of
Tiburon hereby endorses the recommendation of Supervisor Michael Wornum that a
citizens' committee be appointed to include the cities of Tiburon, Corte Madera and
the community of Strawberry to propose to the County an open space and zoning plan
for the Ring Mountain Area and that no applications for permits to develop any part
of the Ring MPuntain Area be approved by County authorities until the recommen-
dations of this committee have been considered by the County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a reStUlar meet1~ of the City Council of the
City of Tiburon held on July 23rd, 1973, by the following vote:
