A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TIBUllON
RECOGNIZING AND CO~ORA TING THE '!WO HUNI2ED'l'H ANNIvn-
SARY OF A YAIA I S DISCOVERY OF ANGEL ISIAND
WHlmEAS, Lt. Juan Hlnuel de Ayala commanded tbe first ship to enter
San rranei8co Bay; and
WBER!AS, tbe first mapping of San Francisco D;y was accompllabed by
the Ayala expedition; and
WHEREAS, for most of the expedition's stay in San Francisco lay, the
ah1.p San Carlos was anchored within wbat is now the City of Tiburon; and
WBplAS, August, 1975, will be the two hundredth anniversary of the
expe.cU tion,
tDl, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that tbe Tiburon City COuncil officially
l'eco8l'llzea and commemorates the historically significant 200tb annivereaJ:y of
Lt. Juan Nlnuel de Ayala's discovery of Angel Island.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Tiburon held on June 28, 1973, by the following vote:
