AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TIBURON
REGULATING TRAFFIC, DESIGN~TING CERTAIN
THROUGH HIGm~AYS, PARKING LIMITS, STOP
I1TTERSECTrONS, SPEED LINITS AND ONE HAY

The City Council of the City of Tiburon does ordain
as follows:
That this Ordinance is passed as an urgency ordinance
and is to take effect irmnediately upon its passage b'l a four-
fifths majority of the City Council of the City of Tiburon.
That the urgency is a result of the incorporation of
the City of Tiburon, and the consequent need for immediate
enactment of ordinances regulating traffic. Dangerous
conditions exist for the traffic in certain area$within
the City of Tiburon and unless this ordinance is passed
accidents may occur endangering health, safety and public
peace.
b.
1. Definitions.
Crosswalks. A crosswalk is any portion of d
roadway dlstinctly indicated for pedestrian
crossing by lines or other markings on the
surface.
One-Hay Highways. A one-way street or high-
way or part thereof on which vehicular
traffic shall move only in the indicated
direction when signs indicating the direction
of traffic are erected and maintained at
every intersection where movement in the
opposite direction is prohibited.

2. Duties of City Engineer. The City Engineer
or the Surveyor ot the County of Marin shall
place, erect, and maintain all signs, signals,
and n~inted markings required by this Or-
c~ inance .

3. Ordinance Applicable to Bicycles. Every
person rldlng a blcycle or rldlng or driving
an animal upon a highway shall be subject to
all of the duties applicable to the driver
of a vehicle by the Ordinance except those
provisions which by their very nature can have
no application.
Section
4. Violations: Penalty. Anyone who violates
any ot the provlslons of this Ordinance is
punishable by a fine not exceeding one hundred
dollars ($100.00) or by imprisonment in the
county jail not exceeding 10 days, or b:;T
both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 5. Arterial High1;vays. The follm.!ing highways
are hereby declared to be through arterial
highways as referred to in Section 600,
21101 and 22450 of the Motor Vehicle Code
of the State of California:
1. Reed Ranch ~oad, in The Reedlands
area, from its intersection with
Tiburon Boulevard to its terminus.
2. Trestle Glen Road from the south-
westerly right-of-way line of Para-
dise Drive to the northern right-
of-way line of State Highway Route
52A, also known as Tiburon Boulevard.
It is hereby directed that there be erected
at every ;_T'tersection of said roads described
in this Section, with any other public roads,
a stop sign, pursuant to the provisions of
Section 471 of the Motor Vehicle Code of the
State of California. EVery said intersection
is hereby declared to be a stop intersection,
and every person entering aforementioned roads
at any of said intersections in any vehicle
shall stop said vehicle as provided in said
Vehicle Code before entering upon said road or
crossing said intersection.
Section 6. Speed Limits Established: Signs. Upon the
basls ot englneerlng and trattlc mvestigations,
prima facie speed limits described in this Sec-
tion shall be effected on the portions of the
public highways as described by this section.
Appropriate signs shall be erected and IT~intained
at the appropriate places on the described por-
tions of the public highways indicating the speed
limits as described in this section.
1. The speed limit shall be 35 miles per
hour on Trestle Glen Road, extending from
its intersection with Tiburon Boulevard to
its terminus at Paradise Drive.
Section 7. One-Way Highways: Signs. The public high-
ways descrlDed ln thlS section are hereby desig-
nated as one-way highways and it is hereby di-
rected that the necessary one-way street signs
be erected on said streets as required to direct
traffic.
1. Mar East Street and Mar Centro Drive,
from their northeasterly juncture with
Paradise Drive, to their Western juncture
with Paradise Drive, are hereby designated
one-way streets or higrnvays in a generally
southerly direction.
Section 8. Parking Regulation. The parking of vehicles
upon the tollowlng public highways or roads, or
portions thereof, durin? the hours between 8:00
o'clock A.M. and 6:00 0 clock P.M. shall be li-
mited to the periods hereinafter specified, and
parking in excess of said periods is prohibited~

1. The Southerly side of the extension of
Main Street, Tiburon, and extending along
the property as described in 'Volume 1082
at page 272 and Volume 1119 at page 377,
Marin County Official Records, a distance
of 123 feet easterly fram the easterly end
of said Main Street, Tiburon, being that ?or-
tion lying within the intersection of Tiburon
Boulevard and Main Street.

2. The easterly 96 feet of the southerly side
of Main Street, Tiburon, being that section
between 380 feet and 476 feet northeasterly
from the angle point opposite the most sou-
therly corner of Lot 2, Tiburon Subdivision.

1. All that portion of the northerly side of
i'1ain Street, Tiburon, bet-';<leen Tiburon Boule-
vard and the most westerly corner of the
parcel described in the deed from Howard to
Zelinsky, as recorded in Book 1179 at page
612 of Marin County Official Records, ex-
cepting therefrom that area designated as a
taxi stand and also excepting therefrom that
portion lying between 133 feet and 213 feet
southwesterly of the most easterly corner
of Lot 1, Tiburon Subdivision.
2. The southwesterly side of Tiburon Boulevard,
between Main Street and Beach Road.
Appropriate signs shall be erected as required to
direct traffic.
Section 9. Taxi Stands. The following area is hereby
deslgnated as a taxicab stand, which area is
designated for exclusive use as a taxicab stand,
pursuant to the provisions of Section 21112 of
the Hotor V ehic 1e Code of the S ta te of California.
1. The last parking space on the west side of
Main Street in Tiburon, at the South end of
said street, just northerly of the ~min
Street entrace to Zelinsky's parking area.
Said area shall be properly marked and designated
in accordance \.;rith the provis ions of the \1ehic 1e

Section 10. Parking Regulation. No person shall stop,

a. Commercial Loading: Between the
hours ot ~:OO o'clock A.M. and 4:00
o'clock P.M. Mondays through Fridays,
both inclusive (legal holidays ex-
cluded), parking and/or stopping shall
be permissible only for licensed com-'
mercial vehicles actually engaged in
loading or unloading freight and/or
passengers.
b. Limited Parking: At all other times
(lnclud~ng legal holidays) parking
and/or stopping shall be limited to a
period of two (2) hours during the
hours of 8:00 o'clock A.M. to 6:00
o'clock P.M.
This Ordinance was introduced at a meeting of the Council
of the City of Tiburon on the 23rd duy of June, 1964, and was
ordered posted in at least three public places in said City of
Tiburon.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a meeting ot the City Council of
the Sity of Tiburon on the 23rd day of June, 1964 by the follow-
ing vote:

erected on said Tiburon Boulevard as required to
divert traffic."
Section 5. Parking Prohibited. The parking of vehicles
upon the following public highways "and roads, or portions thereof,
in the City of Tiburon, is prohibited at all times:
1. Within 9 feet of the center of the pavement on any
road or highway in the City of Tiburon.
2. Both sides of an alley known as Juanita Lane, located
in the City of Tiburon and extending between Beach
Road and Tiburon Boulevard.
Section 6. Parking in Front of Theater. It shall be un-
lawful to park any vehicle on that portion 01' a public highway or
road which lies i~nediately in front of a public theater during
periods of performances in such theater.
Section 7. Stop Intersection. The intersection of Diviso
Street, Centro East and Centro West, be and the same is hereby
designated as a stop intersection, as referred to in Subdivision
(c) of Section 21101 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California,
and it is hereby directed that a stop sign be erected on Diviso
Street in such a manner as to stop traffic traveling in an easterly
direction before entering Centro East Street or Centro West Street,
and a stop sign be erected on Centro East Street in a southwesterly
direction before entering Diviso Street or Centro West Street.
Section 8. Yield Signs. It is hereby directed that a
yield right of way sign be erected at the following location:
1. On Round Hill Road at its intersection with Lyford
Drive, in such a manner that traffic traveling on
Round Hill Road will be required to yield right of
way to traffic traveling on Lyford Drive.
Section 9. Violations: Penalty. Anyone who violates any
of the provisions 01' this Ordinance is punishable by a fine not
exceeding one hundred dollars ($100.00) or by imprisonment in the
county jail not exceeding 10 days, or by both such find and
imprisonment.
