TOWN COUNCIL
MINUTES
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Berger called the regular meeting of the Tiburon Town Council to order at 7:30 p.m.
on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, in Town Council Chambers, 1505 Tiburon Boulevard,
Tiburon, California.

Prior to the regular meeting, beginning at 6:30 p.m., the Council met in closed session to discuss

REORGANIZATION OF TOWN COUNCIL
SWEARING IN OF NEW TOWN COUNCILMEMBERS
Town Clerk Crane Iacopi administered the oath of office to the three Councilmembers who had
been re-elected: Berger, Fredericks and Gram.
TOWN COUNCIL COMMENTS
Outgoing Mayor Berger remarked on his past year as Mayor. First of all, he thanked his wife,
Piper, for allowing him to take the time to serve; then, he thanked his fellow Councilmembers for
an enjoyable and fruitful year and for their respect and friendship on the Council. He said that he
looked forward to four more years of friendship and achievement for the Town.
Mayor Berger also thanked the Town staff and people of Tiburon who, he said, "showed me how
to be Mayor and how to treat them."
Councilmember Gram said that it had been a wonderful year and that Mayor Berger had done a
great job.

Councilmember Fredericks commented that serving with Berger was like having a younger
brother on the Council who she could tease; however, she said that Berger "always said what
needed to be said, and most eloquently." She also said how much she appreciated his enthusiasm
and the energy he brought to the Council.
Councilmember Slavitz said that Mayor Berger had created a connection with the business
district during his tenure and had provided invaluable assistance to the Council.
Vice Mayor Smith listed some of Mayor Berger's achievements during the past year: adoption of
the General Plan, selection of an artist and artwork for the downtown fountain plaza; the success
of Friday Nights on Main.
The Vice Mayor further commented on the way the Council worked together by listening to each
other and maintaining respect for each other.
ELECTION OF MAYOR
Mayor Berger said that he would entertain nominations for the Office of Mayor and conduct the
election.

TOWN COUNCIL COMMENTS
Mayor-elect Smith said that Gram was the most experienced member of the Town Council and
that his institutional knowledge would be invaluable.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon, Mayor-elect
Smith adjourned the meeting at 7:52 p.m. to a celebration at his home. Smith adjourned the
meeting in memory of former Mayor Bill Bremer, who served on the Town Council from 1966 -
1970 and whose widow, Peggy, currently serves on the Heritage & Arts Commission.
