Allan Littman, Owlswood Lane, urged the Council to reflect upon and consult with the Chief of
Police about taking a more humane, more respectful, and more "American" approach to the arrest
of drunk driving suspects. He expressed his outrage at the treatment by a Tiburon police officer
of an elderly lady, an "impeccable member of the community," who had published her story in
the Ark. Mr. Littman said that she had posed no threat to the community and could have been
sent home in a taxi rather than being arrested and having to spend the night in jail. Littman said
that the police would find more cooperation in the community if they took a different approach.
