CALL TO ORDER
Vice Mayor Gram called the special meeting of the Tiburon Town Council to order at 7:00 p.m.
on Tuesday. April 9. 2002. in Town Council Chambers. 1505 Tiburon Boulevard. Tiburon.
California.

APPOINTMENT
. Town Council Vacancy
Councilmembers addressed their remarks to Council candidates George Landau and Lisa
Klairmont who were in the audience.

Councilmember Thompson said that he appreciated their show of interest and dedication to the
community. but noted that he had encouraged Miles to apply for the position and said he would
continue to endorse him,

Councilmember Fredericks said that both George and Lisa would be assets on the Council. She
said that Lisa had taught her an important maxim while serving on the Planning Commission.
Fredericks concluded, however, that Miles' recent experience in town government, combined
with his knowledge of the current issues. as well as his background as an architect, gave him an
edge in the appointment process.
Councilmember Slavitz concurred. He said it was truly a difficult decision but that he agreed
with Councilmember Fredericks.
Vice Mayor Gram commented on the outstanding resumes of both Mr. Landau and Ms.
Klairmont. He concurred with his fellow councilmembers in their comments regarding the
recent experience of Mr. Berger. He also echoed the sentiment that Miles' skills as an architect
could be utilized by the Council during appeal hearings. was the reason for his selection.

To appoint Miles Berger to the Town Council to fill the unexpired term of
Councilmember Harry Matthews
Thompson, seconded by Slavitz

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon, Mayor
Matthews adjourned the meeting at 7:15 p.m.. sine die.
