The Town continues to meet the priority principles of investing - safety, liquidity and yield in this respective order. James McVeigh on the 25th Anniversary of Service with the Town of Tiburon Reviewed By: BACKGROUND On April 28, 2011, Sergeant James T. McVeigh completed his 25th year of service to the Town of Tiburon. Sergeant McVeigh continues his service as a valued and trusted member of the Tiburon Police Department. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Town Council: Adopt the resolution commending Sgt. James McVeigh on the 25th anniversary of service with the Town of Tiburon. Cronin, Chief of Police TOWN OF TIBURON PAGE 1 OF 1 RESOLUTION No. A Resolution of the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon Commending Sergeant James Thomas McVeigh on the 25th Anniversary of his service to the Town of Tiburon WHEREAS, James (Jim) McVeigh began his career as a police officer with the Town of Tiburon on April 28, 1986 when the police department was in the old Navy barracks and the holding cell was a converted closet; and WHEREAS, Jim has served the people of Tiburon in a variety of assignments; first as a patrol officer and later as a canine officer, field training officer and investigator, while progressing through the rank of corporal in 1988 and to sergeant in 2002; and WHEREAS, Jim has been assigned a number of collateral duties including fleet management, administration of citation appeals, inventory control and building maintenance, and has fulfilled the responsibilities of each of these often thankless tasks with a combination of enthusiasm and intelligence that has improved departmental efficiency; and WHEREAS, Jim has consistently participated as a key member of the department staff who shares his insights freely, accepts criticism gracefully, dissents honestly and respectfully, and supports wholeheartedly the goals of the department and the Town; and WHEREAS, Jim has been instrumental in communicating the unique characteristics of police service in the Town of Tiburon to newer members of the staff, thereby ensuring continuity of purpose and pursuit of the highest level of public service; and WHEREAS, Jim's commitment to the highest principles of police service to the community he serves have been amply documented in dozens of letters of appreciation and commendations from police chiefs, council members, business leaders, residents, and visitors alike; " NOW THEREFORE, the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon does hereby heartily commend and congratulate James Thomas McVeigh for his 25 years of outstanding service to the citizens of our community. _ PASSED AND ADOPTED at the Town Council on May 4, 2011, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: JEFF SLAVITZ, MAYOR TOWN OF TIBURON ATTEST: DIANE CRANE IACOPI, TOWN CLERK
