PLANNING DIVISION
Mr Scott Anderson,
I do not support this project. After attending the recent open house with the story poles and reviewing
the architectural and site plan drawings I have come to oppose the current plans.
Our community needs a larger library - this current plan is too massive. I further object to parking in the rear
next to the marsh and wild life habit.
My final comment is that a library is a library - not a community center, with retail and food services.
Sincerely,
Wendy Wayne Evje

Subject: Concerning the Proposed Library Expansion
Attachments: Letter to TTC - Library Expansion - 2012-07-23.docx
Dear Tiburon Town Council members,
I am attaching a letter outlining our families concern with the proposed Belvedere-Tiburon Library
expansion design. I hope that you will consider our perspective as a family that lives in the immediate
vicinity of the proposed building in your decision on Wednesday evening.
Thank you for your consideration.

Re: Library Expansion
Dear Tiburon Town Council,
My wife Becky and I recently moved to 37 Cove Road, which is directly across
Tiburon Boulevard from the Belvedere-Tiburon Library. As parents of two small
children (Charlie, 5, and Lily, 2), we were thrilled to be living in such close proximity
to such a wonderful library. When we initially heard about the plans for some
expansion of the library, we didn't think much about it. Once the story poles were
erected, though, we got very concerned. We have been very much enjoying a view
of the Old St. Hilary's open preserve from our home and the structure suggested by
the new story poles will block much of that view. In addition, having not been here
for a full winter yet, we are not sure which of the trees in our backyard are
deciduous and, should they drop their leaves, the new structure, which is built quite
close to the road, will be looming large over our backyard. We are concerned for the
impact this will have on both our lifestyle and our property value.
Ultimately, our concern is not particularly with the concept of library expansion, but
with whether or not we will have a chance to discuss the current proposed design
and its impact on the nearest residents. In looking at the available space around the
library today, it appears that multiple designs could be considered upon the
property that might not have as negative an impact on local residents. Our
understanding is that the vote on Wednesday night is a "final" vote on the current
design, with no further opportunities or intentions to consider the inputs of the
community. Given that, we urge you to vote against the design as currently drafted.
Sincerely, ,
D V

Re: Opposition for the proposed Library Expansion from TIBURON
residents.
Dear Mayor and Town Council Members:
I am writing in opposition to the application of the Belvedere Tiburon Library
Agency for Design Review of its proposed plans for an unnecessary expansion
of the existing library facility.
The proposed design before you for approval will not add more book space, the
size, blockage of views of the hills, and close proximity to the street is
unacceptable. We feel that additional meeting rooms and another cafe are
unnecessary in Tiburon.
The time is now to NOT APPROVE this design.
This form letter will be familiar to you. The library used the email addresses in
their system to inundate us, library members, with letters urging our support for
the approval of the Library Expansion.
The "opposition to the Library Expansion" does not have the advantage of the
complete library mailing list to reach out and ask members to voice their opinion.
Respectfully,
7/25/2012
