Mayor's Proclamation In Support of
The Muscular Dystrophy Association's
FILL THE BOOT DRIVE
WHEREAS, dedicated and selfless firefighters, both paid and volunteer,
provide vital and lifesaving services to the citizens of our city and community; and
WHEREAS, in addition to their daily service to Marin citizens, firefighters
throughout our state and across the nation have been working with the Muscular
Dystrophy Association (MDA) since 1954, collecting millions of dollars to help
fight the 43 neuromuscular disorders associated with the MDA; and
WHEREAS, firefighters are the largest contributor to the MDA; and
WHEREAS, our local firefighters, along with the Marin Professional
Firefighters I.AFF Local 1775, will once again participate in "Fill-The-Boot" to
collect funds to assist MDA in providing medical services at local clinics, summer
(;amps, research grants, support groups, and public education seminars for children
and families.
NOW, THEREFORE, I do hereby proclaim Thursday, April 25, 2013 and
Sunday April 28, 2013, as MDA "Fill-The-Boot" Day and urge all Tiburon
residents and guests to recognize the merits of this cause and honor our firefighter's
efforts to raise awareness of neuromuscular diseases by contributing generously to
its support.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal
o -f t-he Town of T'iburon to be affixed this 25th day of April, 2013.
